Dievole

Dievole è un angolo di Toscana noto da sempre per essere un piccolo paradiso terrestre. Qui il dialogo tra natura e uomo non si è mai interrotto e il motivo lo spiega il nome stesso: la radice del nome Dievole, infatti, si può far risalire al significato di “Dio vuole”.

Il nome Dievole appare per la prima volta ufficialmente nel XI secolo, otto secoli e innumerevoli generazioni dopo, un dono di nozze, racconta di nuovo di Dievole. Il Conte Giulio Terrosi-Vagnoli regala la Tenuta, costata ben 361.632 Lire, alla sua futura sposa Ildegonda Camaiori che sarà l’ultima nobildonna di Dievole. A lei si deve un prezioso documento che è giunto intatto fino a noi: il Quaderno dei Saldi di Dievole, contenente tutti i nomi delle famiglie contadine di allora e quello del podere loro affidato. Molti discendenti di quelle famiglie sono ancora qui. A partire dagli anni ’80 la loro sapienza antica è tornata a prendersi cura dei vigneti di Dievole: 16 vigneti come 16 erano i poderi nei quali era divisa la proprietà.

Nel 2012 Dievole inizia un armonico e graduale rinnovamento che punta a fare risaltare l’identità più profonda di questi luoghi.

Tre sono le espressioni di Dievole: i suoi vigneti che disegnano onde sulle colline e danno vita a vini freschi ed intensi a base di Sangiovese, gli ulivi che punteggiano il paesaggio con il loro fascino, e la calda accoglienza della Villa storica – Villa Dievole – un elegante resort di campagna dal fascino senza tempo.

Dievole is a corner of Tuscany that has long been known as an earthly paradise. Here the dialogue between man and nature has never been interrupted, and the name itself explains why: the root of the name Dievole can in fact be traced back to “Dio vuole” - God wants.

The name Dievole first appeared in official documents in the 11th century; eight centuries and innumerable generations later, a wedding gift again mentions Dievole. Count Giulio Terrosi-Vagnoli gave the Estate, which cost 361,632 Lire, to his future bride Ildegonda Camaiori who would be the last of the Dievole noblewomen. In fact, we owe to her a valuable document that has been passed on to us: Dievole's Quaderno dei Saldi (accounts book), containing the names of all of the farm families then living on the estate and the farms entrusted to them. Many descendants of those families are still here. In the 1980s, their ancient know-how once again began to care for Dievole's vineyards: 16 vineyards, like the 16 farms into which the property was divided.

In 2012 Dievole began a harmonious, gradual renovation aimed at highlighting the profound identity of these places.

Dievole is expressed in three ways: through its vineyards, flowing in waves over the hills and giving life to fresh, intense Sangiovese-based wines: the olive trees dotting the landscape charmingly; and the warm welcome at the historic villa – Villa Dievole – an elegant country resort of timeless elegance.
